In a living room environment, the paintings demonstrate how their layered structures and shifting planes of color can define the character of a space. The work introduces a sense of movement and depth that interacts naturally with surrounding textures, creating a focal point that feels integrated rather than imposed.
In a study or office, the artwork brings structure and visual interest to a working environment. The interplay of color and form can create a sense of focus and calm, demonstrating how the paintings contribute to a space where clarity and creativity are equally important.
When placed in a dining area or above a fireplace, the artwork brings clarity, warmth, and a refined visual rhythm to the room. These settings highlight how the paintings can elevate an interior, adding presence and sophistication while complementing both contemporary and traditional design elements.
Please note: the dimensions listed for paintings on Masonite may vary slightly—typically by 0.125" to 0.25"—due to the saw‑cut trimming of the original 4' × 8' sheet into the final panel size. “Masonite” is a long‑established trade name that has become synonymous with high‑density fiberboard (HDF or hardboard), a material used by artists since the late 1920s. Important painters such as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, and Joan Miró (who created a series of 27 works on Masonite in 1936) all chose this substrate for its stability and surface quality. Before painting begins, each panel receives four coats of acrylic gesso, creating a durable, archival ground for the pencil drawing and the successive layers of acrylic paint. Jaren works on both canvas and HDF panels, but prefers hardboard for its dimensional stability, smooth surface, and greater resistance to damage compared to stretched canvas. Although Masonite has been a favored artist’s material for nearly a century, painting on wood panels is far older: the earliest surviving examples date from around 100–300 AD (the Fayum mummy portraits of Egypt), and written records show that Greek artists were painting on wooden panels more than 2,500 years ago.
